Administration

Lake Catholic High School, founded in 1970, is a coeducational comprehensive high school with a college-preparatory emphasis. Lake Catholic is committed to educating young men and women of diverse means and ability throughout Northeast Ohio. With a population of some 500 students in grades nine through twelve and international students from a half dozen countries, Lake Catholic High School emphasizes spiritual growth in the Catholic faith as students learn, work, and serve.

JOB DUTIES

Student Conduct & Discipline
  • Evaluate and update disciplinary policies and procedures regularly to ensure fairness, consistency, and alignment with the school's mission and values.
  • Manage and resolve all behavioral incidents, including excessive absences, tardiness, and conduct issues, in partnership with students, families, and faculty.
  • Maintain records of student discipline and communication with parents.
  • Administer consequences, including detention, behavior contracts, suspensions, and interventions, as outlined in the Student/Parent Handbook.
  • Serve as the point of contact for matters involving law enforcement, courts, or community agencies when necessary.
  • Support a restorative approach to discipline that fosters student growth, accountability, and reconciliation.
Student Supervision & Campus Safety
  • Oversee supervision of students before school, during breaks/lunch, and after school, including coordinating faculty responsibilities during these times.
  • Lead emergency preparedness efforts, including planning and conducting all state-required safety drills.
  • Maintain and manage student locker assignments and related issues.
  • Ensure campus safety during Masses, assemblies, rallies, dances, athletic events, and all student gatherings.
  • Attend all school dances and supervise the student section at football and boys' basketball games, and all league games.
  • Coordinate all campus volunteers and visitors on campus.
Student Leadership & Engagement
  • Develop and lead a student leadership program that promotes voice, responsibility, and involvement in the school community.
  • Mentor student leaders in areas such as school culture, peer mentorship, event planning, and representation of the school mission.
  • Collaborate with student government, Campus Ministry, and club moderators to promote inclusive events and student-driven initiatives.
  • Work closely with faculty and staff to support co-curricular and extracurricular programming that aligns with the school’s values.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Communicate regularly with faculty, staff, and students regarding behavior expectations, dress code standards, and student life policies.
  • Collaborate with faculty to promote hallway supervision, classroom management, and behavioral support strategies.
  • Partner with the administrative team to develop and maintain a safe, respectful, and joyful school culture.
  • Serve as a member of the Administrative Board and additional committees as assigned by the Principal or President.
  • Liaison to the Parent Ambassador Program for the Academic Administrative Team to secure volunteers and programming throughout the year.
Administrative Support
  • Assist in the annual revision and implementation of the Faculty and Student Handbooks.
  • Support the annual evaluation of faculty and staff, particularly in areas impacting student life and classroom management.
  • Coordinate closely with the Counseling Department, Campus Ministry, and Athletic Department to align student life efforts with broader school initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or higher in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in education, with demonstrated leadership in student activities, campus life, or school culture.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Experience in coordinating student life programs, including clubs, events, retreats, service initiatives, and leadership development.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Commitment to the values and mission of Catholic education and a willingness to support and promote the school’s Catholic identity.
  • Commitment to Catholic values and the mission of Catholic education.
  • The position requires VIRTUS certification and FBI/BCI background check.

ADDITIONAL NOTES 

This position would be ideally filled at the earliest possible time, unless the ideal candidate is unable to begin until July 1, 2025

Essential Job Functions

  • Monitoring grades and academic progress for all students, and prescribing interventions as needed and in collaboration with teachers, counselors, and families.
  • Coordinating with intervention specialists and counselors to support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Attending IEP, Service Plan, and Accommodation Plan meetings, ensuring compliance and best practices for student success.
  • Facilitating the coordination of support services for students, including accommodation plans and tutoring.
  • Lead AIT with counselors to address student academic issues, including creating intervention plans for struggling students.
  • Serving as the testing coordinator, managing standardized assessments, and ensuring smooth implementation.
  • Analyzing standardized and classroom-level assessment data and facilitating the review of these data with Instructional Leaders - Principal, Assistant Principal for Academics, and Department Chairs.
  • Support the Principal and Assistant Principal in the observation and evaluation of teachers, providing feedback for continued growth and improvement.
  • Support the development and coordination of instructional resources and professional development opportunities for faculty.
  • Tracking summer school progress to ensure students remain on track for graduation while also designing and implementing proactive support systems to ensure student academic success during the school year.
  • Collaborate with the Principal and Assistant Principal to ensure alignment and support in areas such as student assessment, progress tracking, and teacher development.
  • Assisting the Athletic Director with student-athlete eligibility and academic success.
  • Assist in academic planning, including course offerings, scheduling, and staffing.

Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates will be practicing Catholics with a good understanding of the Catholic faith and a strong commitment to Church teachings who have a strong interest in educating young people in the history and practices of the Catholic Church.
  • Master’s degree in Administration or Education or a related field.
  • Experience in teaching or school administration with a focus on academic programming and student support.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships with teachers, students, and families.
  • Experience collaborating with school counselors or support staff to address academic challenges.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in curriculum development, instructional methods, and academic intervention strategies.

  • Implement the curriculum in accordance with the standards set forth by the Diocese of Cleveland and the Ohio Department of Education. 
  • Foster a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and critical thinking.
  • Utilize various teaching methodologies to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary approaches to teaching.
  • Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and other events throughout the year.
  • Maintain a safe and effective learning environment. 
  • Provide outstanding and engaging instruction to students. 
  • Monitor students and complete other school-related responsibilities as assigned by the principal. 
  • Maintain accurate records and effectively communicate progress with students, parents, and school administrators.
Qualifications  
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (master’s preferred but not required).
  • Career Tech Education (CTE)  license through the Ohio Department of Education or the ability to obtain a Non-Tax certification
  • Strong commitment to the mission of the Diocese of Cleveland and Catholic Church.
  • Prior experience teaching similarly aged students is preferred, but not required.
  • All candidates must either hold a current Ohio teaching license or have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and a willingness to obtain the required teaching certification.
